We are Odd because we like our products to be made in England to a quality that our childrens' children will enjoy. Having things mass produced in distant parts of the world, with quality compromised in order to maximise our profit margins, is just not for us. We are also Odd because we are not an online shop and want our customers to ring and speak to us about an order, rather than doing it all online. We try to provide a very personal service.

Robin and I launched 'Odd' at the beginning of 2003, designing and having made locally, some items of garden furniture and a range of fabrics. The core product, from the beginning, was a fully upholstered swinging garden sofa, which we called Odd's 'Old Rocker'. The design was based on a 1930's upholstered swing seat that, fortunately for me but not for my brother, I had inherited from my great aunt Trix. We all loved it like an old friend and summers did not begin until it had been put up in the garden.

We manufacture our Old Rockers (the most comfortable swinging garden sofa money can buy) in Oxfordshire and have, over the last few years, developed the design of the 'Old Rocker' and improved the specification, including now making the frame from which the sofa hangs entirely of stainless steel, eliminating rust and the need for painting. We dye our own canvas in several colours and offer options on the shape of the sofa, on the style of the roof, on the choice of fabrics that can be used, and on the range of accessories that we make to compliment the Rocker.
